Anniversary Getaway

On August 3rd, John Wayne and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!  Since it's a "milestone" anniversary, I kinda wanted to getaway for a long weekend like to Santa Fe, but I was honest with myself and decided that would be better saved for when I'm not very pregnant.  So, we just ventured to the big city {Denver} for a night.

I got a great deal on a room at the Hyatt downtown.  I'm a hotel snob and I really enjoyed this hotel.

The view, daytime and nightime, from our room on the 30th floor.

After check-in, we enjoyed a couples massage at the hotel spa.  {John Wayne is probably turning red with embarrassment...I'm sure I wasn't supposed to share that with the whole blog world...but as "unmanly" as he may think it is, I think he rather enjoyed it!}

After our massages, we got ready for dinner.  Don't you love our self-portrait?!?

We decided on the Denver Chophouse for dinner.

The food was amazing!
We shared the BBQ Shrimp appetizer.  It had a spicy kick and was so yummy!
I had the Fillet Mignon with White Cheddar Mashed Potatoes.  I'm kinda a steak snob too and this lived up to my expectations.
Instead of rolls or bread, they serve Jalapeno Cornbread with their meals...very good!

We were going to walk down to the Cheesecake Factory for dessert, but were too full.  We just headed back to the room where we spent the rest of the evening watching the Olympics {enjoying not having to flip back and forth between the Olympics and Toy Story}.

Sunday morning, we enjoyed breakfast at Sams No. 3 before heading home.  It's a fun place that's been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

We really enjoyed our night away.  I wouldn't trade living on the ranch for anything, but I do enjoy the big city life for a night every now and then {and John Wayne tolerates it for me}!

And in a totally unrelated Instagram picture from the week, the Little Lady and I received goodies in the mail from Giddy Up Glamour this week!

The Little Lady’s Latest and Greatest

The Little Lady’s ultimate show of affection is a hug, followed by a kiss, then a high five and finished off with a fist bump.
The other night, John Wayne and I both got home late. We were just hanging out as a family and John Wayne asked the Little Lady if she had said hi to her little bro.
She proceeded to lift up my shirt, and you guessed it, hug my belly, kiss my belly, slap my belly and slug my belly.
Oh…the love!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She is obsessed {to an annoying degree} with watching Cars, Toy Story and Monsters.
Her current favorite is Toy Story.
Grandma found and ordered her this Jessie nightgown {and we can’t forget the “awesome” headband that came with it}.
She put it on the night it came and the next morning at around 11:00, Grandma emailed me and told me that T was refusing to put regular clothes on, she just wanted to wear her nightgown and boots!
What can I say, the girl’s got a style all her own!

And finally, the Little Lady was the unfortunate victim of her first bad road rash incident this weekend.
This picture doesn’t quite do justice to how bad it really is.
Poor baby’s eye and lip were really swollen and she has bad scrapes all down one side of her face.
She did cry pretty good {I would have questioned if she hadn’t}, but our little tuffy handled it pretty well.
Now, she just has to endure everyone asking her what happened!

That's what's currently going on in the Little Lady's world!

Little Red Wagon

These pictures are a few weeks old, but I stumbled upon them on my camera and just had to share.

They're from when we were having the scorching hot heat wave...

And the Little Lady wanted to swim at 8 o'clock at night...

Rather than filling her pool...

Grandpa was able to get by with this...

Sunday Fun Day and a Game of Croquet

All of my little cousins {minus one} were around this weekend. So just like the "good old days" we spent Sunday afternoon at Grandpa and Grandma's house.

My cousins...well, you have to understand this about them, they're the most competitive and loud group on earth.

When we got there, they were playing Monopoly.
The Little Lady quickly jumped right into the middle of the action.

After lunch, it was time for an afternoon of croquet.
Croquet...a nice game made very interesting with all of the loud, competitive, cheating personalities.

Jake's the ring leader.
His mission is to prime the Little Lady to be just like him.
They're well on their way.

The Little Lady...
With a mallet...

Dangerous!

How many big cousins can we fit in the pool?!?

I'll admit, I'm ultra-competitive {and maybe just a little bit loud}, but I pretty much watched from the sidelines yesterday.  I had my prodigy to fill my shoes : )

It sure was a fun day!  Made me miss the times when this Sunday afternoon was the norm, rather than a special occasion.

My Birthday

On Wednesday I had a birthday.
I turned 30.

Here's a look at my birthday via phone pics.

I woke up to my awesome present from John Wayne and the Little Lady...new boots.
I've had my eye on these beauties for quite some time!

Quite awhile back John Wayne asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday.  Several of my girlfriends had just turned 30 and their hubbies threw them surprise parties.  A party, let alone a surprise party, was honestly the last thing on earth that I wanted.  I told him that all I wanted was to not go to work that day.

There's a small water park in Denver that I've been wanting to take the Little Lady to.  I figured the middle of the week was a perfect day to go, so John Wayne took the day off too and off to Denver we went.  {John Wayne still doesn't think it's fair that for MY birthday, the Little Lady got a fun day, but we had a great day and I wouldn't have had it any other way!}

We started the day with Starbucks and donuts.

It was the first time I had just turned the Little Lady loose with a donut.
She licked all the frosting and sprinkles off, but then she did actually eat about half of the donut too.

We went to Pirates Cove in the big city.  When we first arrived, the Little Lady took one look around, crossed her arms and sat down on a lounge chair and said "NO!"  Great I thought, we just drove two hours and planned our entire day around this and our little water bug wants nothing to do with it.  It didn't take her long at all to warm up to it though.  See that little yellow slide below...I think she went down it approximately 54 times : )

The next picture is a rare one...a swimming suit picture and a bump picture : )  I'm telling you though, a public swimming pool is always a great self esteem booster...sure there's always the hot mama that looks way better than you, but there's always the handful of mamas who just don't care and apparently didn't look in the mirror before they left home!

The lazy river was the Little Lady's close second favorite after the slide!

A rare break in the action.

They also had a little "beach" area for the little ones to play in the sand.

The Little Lady had a BIG time at the water park and John Wayne and I enjoyed ourselves too.  We of course had a great time watching the Little Lady have so much fun, but I'm not gonna lie, this pregnant mama could have floated on the lazy river all day!

Of course the Little Lady fell asleep on the 10 minute drive to Chick Fil A for lunch, but we were starving and knew that she had to be too, so we woke her up.  Expecting a bear, the little power nap must have been just what she needed, because she gobbled her lunch up and was in a great mood.

After lunch, I got to treat my tired, swollen, sunburned feet to a pedicure while John Wayne and the Little Lady went and drove race car shopping carts around Lowe's.
We were all happy : )

We ended our day in the big city at a frozen yogurt bar.  It was so yummy!  I had the Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel yogurt with some crushed Butterfingers and caramel and hot fudge, it was great.

The Little Lady had Birthday Cake yogurt with every sweet candy topping on the bar.  She was in heaven : )

When we got home from the big city, we had cake and ice cream with my Mom and Dad, Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle and Cousin.  And we also had to give our puppy Lacy some extra loving...it was her birthday too!  It really was the perfect day!

That night I was thanking all of my Facebook friends for the birthday wishes.  I told everyone about my great day and made the mistake of saying..."And oh yeh, by the way...30...bring it."  Well, I went to bed feeling great, but woke up sick in the middle of the night and was sick for the next two days.  Apparently, 30 brought it and 30 won...this time : )

Weekend Fun With Friends

We had a great weekend...our friends the Knutson's came for a visit!

The Little Lady and Kaleb are just a couple of weeks apart and it's always so fun to watch them play together!

First, it was time for a little fun on the trampoline and swing set!

We of course had to visit Poncho and give him his carrot and apple treats!

Pool time!

Yum, popsicles!

We had such a fun time with them, we only wish that we could have more weekends like this with them!
