Those damn pants

These pants, I love them…they’re crazy, they’re funky, they’re comfy.
But…they’re dangerous.
Well, they’re probably just dangerous when I’m wearing them.

{photo from Giddy Up Glamour}

I’ve had one incredibly embarrassing moment in these pants {and somehow I think it will do me good and make me feel less embarrassed if I just tell you all about it} and one really ouchy moment in these pants.

First, the embarrassing moment.
A couple of weeks ago, I’m very pleased with how cute my little family is looking for our nephew’s high school graduation.
You see here in our neck of the woods, we {mostly the Little Lady and I} pride ourselves in standing out.
I doubt this would be the case if we lived for say in parts of Texas, but here in eastern Colorado, we’re pretty funky.
So our funky little selves are walking into the auditorium when my funky foot catches on my funky wide-legged pants and yes, you guessed it, my funky self, takes a funky fall.
Oh but it gets better…I’m carrying the Little Buckaroo.
When a lady falls AND she’s holding a baby, that’s a big scene.
I was actually pretty graceful in the fall {if there is such a thing} and neither one of us got hurt at all.
I’m pretty sure GW didn’t even know anything had happened.
SO, besides my pride taking a lashing, all was fine.
{At the end of graduation, the Little Lady had to go potty, so as her and I were exiting the auditorium, she looks up at me and innocently says, “be careful Mama, don’t fall.”  Thank you T, thank you.}

Now, the ouchy moment.
Last week I was hustling around the house, trying to get the Suburban loaded for a trip to the big city.
When I was carrying the big ice chest out, you guessed…funky foot, funky pants, funky fall.
This time it was just me and Jesus, so there was no embarrassment, but ouch!
The cooler had broken my fall and I had broken the cooler {literally}.
I contemplated keeping this little episode between me and Jesus, but I brushed off and went in and told John Wayne the story with a laugh.
“Get rid of those damn pants,” was his logical response.

Well, here we are almost a week after the ouchy moment.
Each day since the incident, I’ve actually gotten sorer and sorer.
A trip to my chiropractor would probably do me well, but I’m so darn sore, the thought of being worked over makes me cringe.

So the moral of this post?
I’m not sure…???
I didn’t get rid of those “damn pants” so I guess the moral of it is, when you see me wearing them, please catch me.

Hello Summer

We welcomed in Summer 2013 this weekend, well, by doing "summer things."

We planted flowers.

The Little Lady has taken it upon herself to name herself the "flower waterer".
The poor flowers...they're going to drown if we don't stop her.
And don't you like her gloves.
{I love how she's looking quite pleased with herself in the second picture!}

She supervised her Dad putting in the swamp cooler.

We swam for the first time of the season.

Poor kids...I think they need a bigger pool.

GW thought the water was a little cold, he never got too upset,
but he didn't love it as much as his sister.

And, we had a "Teddy" party.
{The Little Lady calls Rapunzel, Teddy...that's another story for another day.}

Why did we have a Teddy party???
Well, potty training has been quite the project with this stubborn child.
Awhile back I asked her what it was going to take.
She told me that she wanted to have a Teddy party.
Easy enough.
I've had the stuff a month or two now, Wednesday, she told me
"I'm going to have that Teddy party."
So between then and Monday afternoon, she had just one accident.
So, we had the Teddy party.
Hopefully, this is it.

Here's to a great summer!

Mother's Day 2013

I had a great Mother's Day this year!

Love this picture with my sweet Littles.

We went to Hanover to spend the day at my Grandpa and Grandma Chisman's
house with my Mom's side of the family.

Only at Great Grandma's house does the Little Lady get to do fun things like play the piano.

Pretty sure the Little Buckaroo didn't get set down all day!

On Monday evening, we celebrated with Great Grandma Hammer
with dinner at Mom and Dad's.

I'm so thankful for all of these very special women in my life!

New Orleans

Last week I traveled to New Orleans for a conference.

We stayed in the heart of the French Quarter at Hotel Monteleone

I loved how my room overlooked a busy street in the French Quarter.
One night at nearly midnight, there was random jazz music coming from the street.
The next morning I heard some conference attendees grumbling about it, but I loved it!

Tuesday afternoon, me and a friend, spent the afternoon doing a little sightseeing.
One of our first stops of course had to be the original Cafe Du Monde for beignets.

That evening we met up with some more friends and had a wonderful dinner at Kingfish Restaurant.
I had the "Seafood Cassoulet" ~ sauteed shrimp, fish, crawfish, alligator sausage smothered in flageoulets, finished with a cheese crust.  It was my favorite meal of the trip!

After dinner, we went on a walking "ghost tour" of the French Quarter.  It was a little hokey, but still a good time!  Here's a pic of me on Bourbon Street on our way back to the hotel after the tour.

Wednesday morning, the conference started with an ag tour of Louisiana.
We started at the Port of New Orleans.  Very interesting!

From there, we traveled to tour and eat at La Provence, a farm to fork restaurant.

Random pic...I didn't wear my mask out, but I had to have one!

That night was the opening reception.
I was lucky enough to get to participate in another Dear World photo shoot.

I have developed great friendships with several marketing directors from other Farm Credits.  I look forward to spending time with them each year at this conference.

Idea Share - conference for Farm Credit system marketing professionals and communicators.
I LOVE this conference, it's my favorite one I go to each year.

Our conference room had a great view!

The famous Carousel Bar was located in our hotel.  It actually revolves!

Thursday evening, we took a dinner cruise.

Great New Orleans cuisine and cruising while enjoying the city lights.

I had an awesome trip and great conference!

I missed my Littles, but Daddy, Gaga and Papa took great care of them and I was certainly happy to get home to them.

I think the Little Lady liked her souvenir!

The Little Buckaroo {{Seven-months-old}}

This month, just like all the rest of them, has been great!

Let's see, what's new this month...

He is SO close to crawling, SO close.
In fact, I was on business travel most of last week {that is why this post is late} and I was so sure that he was going to start crawling while I was gone.
He didn't...thank you little man for waiting.

He did on the other hand, get his first tooth!
My Mom didn't even notice it, I just noticed it Friday night when I got home and was poking around in his mouth...it's barely broke through.

He still doesn't really like baby food, or any food, even good real food.
He does like graham crackers and yesterday {Mother's Day} I discovered another thing he likes...homemade ice cream.
Milk, cookies and homemade ice cream...hmmm!

But when he smiles this little smile, which is pretty much all the time, who's going to tell him that he can't just have milk, cookies and ice cream!

The monthly carseat pic is getting more and more difficult!
