Fancy Feet

Saw them.
Had to have them.
Threw a conniption fit.
Got them.

They're here!

The fittingly named Macie Beans: Conniption Fit, arrived this weekend!

Once I saw them, I had to have them. I don't just buy a pair of boots, wear them out and then buy another pair. I have a collection. When John Wayne gives me grief about the number of pairs of boots I own, I reassuringly remind him, "babe, I'm just working on my collection, I'll be rocking these when I'm 90." And I fully intend to!

The Little Lady also has some pretty fancy new kicks that Grandpa and Grandma gave her for her birthday.

We're both going to be rocking our leopard print!

Me and T...the fanciest ladies in Wild Horse.

Just Perfect

Some days the wind might blow.
Some days the Little Lady might scream.
And some days...well, some days are just perfect.

April Goals Report

Drink more water.
I slacked off here a little bit this month, going back to my old ways of Diet Coke and coffee. Focusing on choosing water again!

Stick to a budget.
I “borrowed” a $100 from my house fund. NO! This is so not allowed. It has been paid back, but this money is invisible, untouchable, concealed, etc. from here on out.

Read atleast one book each month.
I actually read a book this month. I read The Hunger Games. It was good, not my usual type of read, but it was captivating.

Keep my pictures organized.
Slowly but surely still working on this project, a little progress has been made.

Start sewing again.
Mother’s Day is Sunday. The sewing machine will be running full speed in the evenings this week. (From that statement, obviously I didn’t sew in April.)

Exercise.
Hello reality. Last month my goal was to exercise six times a week. In my world, that is not so realistic. I feel like four times a week is a good, attainable goal. So four times a week it is.

The “d” word.
If you’ll recall last month’s goals post, I decided I would actually diet in April, not just watch what I ate. I lost six pounds this month. Actually I lost six pounds in the first two weeks of the month and then I just battled back and forth, up and down the past few weeks with Easter and then my Seattle vaca. May goal: 10 pounds.

I feel like I’m at a point where I really need to focus back in on my goals. The first few months they were at the forefront of my mind when I made choices, recently they’ve taken a backwards slide. Time to move them to the front again.

A big thanks to Rachel over at the FarmWife Project who asked me to contribute to her great blog. Be sure to check it out!

Seattle, Pike Place Market and Slippery Fish

This weekend I went to Seattle with my bestie Katie, her sister Sarah and our friend Sandra. Girls weekend!

A few weeks ago, Sarah called, "Do you want to go to Seattle with me the last weekend of the month? Kate will be there for an event." (My bestie is the Fan Club Manager for the Professional Bull Riders.) I'm usually pretty quick to reply with a no to something like this; not that I don't want to go, but I shouldn't leave T, I shouldn't spend the money...you get the idea. But not this time, I was pretty quick to respond with a yes and I'm so glad I did, we had a great time!

Friday morning my alarm went off at 3:30AM. Adrenalin and excitement made it easy to get out of bed, and not to mention, the royal wedding was on TV. So much better than your typical middle-of-the-night infomercial!

I met Sarah and Sandra in Limon (Kate was already in Seattle) and we headed to DIA for our 8AM flight.

Upon arrival in Seattle we headed to our hotel in Downtown Seattle.

Me and Sandra in the cab on the way to our hotel.

We met up with Kate and headed to have lunch down on the water.

The view from our table at Ivar's.

Me and Kate ready for some fish and chips!

Next it was time for some shopping at Pike Place Market.

The fresh flowers at the market are AMAZING!

There was also an abundance of great fresh produce...

...and of course, fresh seafood.

When you hear people talk about Seattle and the market, you always hear about the fish being tossed around. Well, when we were there things were pretty uneventful. Jokingly, I yelled "We want to see some action!"

In return, I was invited up behind the counter to catch a fish myself!

Getting some coaching...

Practice...

He caught this one and passed it off to me.

This one was all me!
I must admit, I was a little nervous. Fish are slippery little critters and I didn't want to make a fool of myself and drop it in front of the crowd.
Success...I caught it!

Getting to catch the fish was definitely a trip highlight for me!

More Seattle pictures and stories to come...
