InstaFriday

We had a good week.
We had a long weekend due to the MLK holiday.

We spent Friday night at home with pizza and a movie.
Well, that was the plan, but then I fell asleep too early to watch the movie.
Then we didn't have time to watch the movie.
Then we lost the movie.
John Wayne finally found it, watched it out of obligation and we returned it...five days later.

Camo and a tutu...that's how we roll.

The Little Lady riding "Papa's Moe all by myself."

Sunday, we went to the big city for John Wayne's work retreat.
The Little Lady especially enjoyed the stay in "our new house"...aka the hotel.
She got to go get ice cream...in her jammies AND watch a movie, "talk" on the phone and jump on the bed.  This is the life.

Monday, the Littles and I ran errands {fun ones like oil changes and the tire shop}.
We did manage Target too...twice.

Well, I guess that's it for this week...pictures from the long weekend!
Hope your weekend week was as good as ours.

Papa's Moe and the Fairy Cowgirl

The Little Lady loves to ride "Papa's Moe."

"I ride Papa's Moe all by myself."

If this isn't the face of a happy kid...

Yes, we still have Poncho.
The Little Lady still loves Poncho.
But you know how ponies can be.
Poncho's a typical pony.
Whereas this big guy, well, you couldn't wish for a better kid's horse.
I'm pretty sure he'll take pretty good care of the Little Lady and Buckaroo over the years.

Papa did question the Little Lady's riding attire.
He told her that he had never seen a "fairy cowgirl" before.

"I'm a fairy cowgirl...I'm a fairy cowgirl..."

Happy Friday!
I hope you all had a great week.
Here's a quick look at some of the highlights of our week at the Trailerhood.

My Mom and Dad raise show goats for 4-H and FFA projects.
All of the kids {that's what you call a baby goat} are adorable.
After being kinda afraid of them the past two years {they have really shrill squeals}, the Little Lady loves them this year and is always asking to go see the baby goats.

Last Saturday turned out to be a pretty disappointing day for us Broncos fans.
Let's not rehash it, just look at these cute pictures and move on.

On one of the radio shows this week, they seriously had a psychologist on, giving people tips on how to deal with the loss.

Our little smiley man.  Seriously, such a happy baby.

Love this middle pic..."say your prayers and sleep tight."

We introduced the Little Buckaroo to Sophie this week.
Do your kids teeth with a Sophie?
The Little Lady loved her Sophie.
The Little Buckaroo is still really little to be teething and I don't think he's starting yet, but he chews on his fists all.the.time and there is so much drool!

Yesterday was pay day on the ranch.
Us and my Mom and Dad took our calves to the sale.
For all of you that have never experienced this, it's a stressful day.
A year's worth of work comes down to just a matter of seconds in the sale ring.
The market was a little down, but it was still a profitable year, so no complaints here.

The Little Lady eating her cookie.
The gals pass out cookies during the sale.
Mama and Daddy's favorite part of the sale is the check, but pretty sure the Little Lady's favorite part is the cookie.

Aren't my boys handsome in their jean jackets?!?
You should see the Little Buckaroo's jacket, it's Wrangler and too.stinking.cute.

Happy weekend from the Trailerhood!

Ten on Ten {{January 2013}}

One of my goals this year is to learn to use my camera better.
My nice, expensive, camera.
That I've had for two years.
That I still shoot on auto.
Yes, I know, the shame.

So in attempt to help myself learn and improve, I'm going to participate in the Ten on Ten photo challenge this year.
And not let myself shoot on auto.
I'm hoping we see a big improvement between now and December!

So here it goes, my first Ten on Ten...

Ten pictures on the 10th day of the month
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}

The cutest Little Buckaroo I ever did see, ready for his day at Gaga and Papa's house.

So achy...flu stay away.

Make everyday a happy day!  Loving my new Erin Condren life planner.

A little Pinterest on my lunch break...don't mind if I do!

A completed newsletter = a Diet Coke.

So excited to get home to my little Broncos fans!  They're ready for the big game on Saturday, today they went shopping with Gaga for orange and blue party supplies.

Dinner.  Don't judge.

Playtime before bedtime.

Ready for tomorrow.

A great way to end the day.

I hope your 10th was great!

The Little Buckaroo {{Three-Months-Old}}

It's been a great month.

The Little Buckaroo continues to be a great eater and sleeper.
Seriously, I'm sleeping way better than I was when I was pregnant.
I remember at one point in my pregnancy crying to John Wayne, "I'm not going to sleep good for like the next two years."
But then God blessed us with this little angel.

At his 2 month appointment, he weighed in at 12.4 {couldn't remember if I ever updated you all on that or not}.  We get to skip the visit to Dr. Hoover this month, our next check-up is 4 months.

While he's still growing like crazy, this weekend I packed away all of the 3 month stuff and got out his 3-6 month and 6 month stuff, I feel like he changed the least in this past month.

The best development has been how much this baby smiles and giggles.
He is happy, happy, happy!

With that being said, he was extra somber during our little photo shoot...

So, key big sister.
She can always get a smile...and usually a giggle.

Do you know where we keep the Q-tips?

So last night on the drive home from work John Wayne and I’s conversation somehow turned into this:

John Wayne starts quizzing me about if I know where all of our retirement accounts are located.  I tell him of course and rattle off the two that come to mind.
Turns out, there are six.

I’m not even going to pretend that I’m the financial brains of the family.  John Wayne worked as a financial advisor for several years and then a banker for several years after that.  There’s a reason why, he’s a numbers guy.  Me?  Well, not so much.  One of the deciding factors in the choosing of my college major was the least amount of math courses required.

So after a schooling in where each of our retirement accounts are located; complete with company name, account number, balance, how much it’s earned in the past year and our advisor’s favorite dog’s name {okay, not quite, but it was pretty detailed}, I asked John Wayne one simple question:

“Do you know where we keep the Q-tips?”

It was then decided that he’d be in a much bigger world of hurt if I died tomorrow, then I would be if he died tomorrow.

To further confirm this, we moved onto bank accounts.

I was good in this category; except for one freak account that I had no idea existed at the credit union where we make our car payments. They made an accounting error in our favor once and so they stuck the money in a savings account.

John Wayne excused me on this one, “It’s okay, it’s only like $400.”
To which my response was “Four hundred dollars, that would buy me a new pair of boots!”
“Oh yes, I’m sure if I die, you and the kids are going to need new clothes to wear to my funeral,” says John Wayne.“So there you go, you can use that.”

He proceeds to quiz me on bank account numbers.
To which I know none of by memorization.

I reassure him that it’s okay, they send statements with this sort of info, and again, I ask him one simple question:

“Can you make chocolate chip cookies from scratch without the recipe?”

Again, it was confirmed that he’d be in a much bigger world of hurt if I died tomorrow, then I would be if he died tomorrow.

About this time, we pull up to the post office and he goes in to get the mail.
He comes out and hands me a big stack of envelopes with a funny look on his face.

“See, I told you they send you statements with all this stuff that you need to know,” after I see the eight {no joke} statements we received in the mail yesterday.

InstaFriday #gugphotoaday

This December I participated in my first "photo-a-day" challenge on Instagram.
This one was hosted by one of my favorite boutiques, Giddy Up Glamour.
I had so much fun doing this and will definitely do it again...and to make it even better, I just found out that I was one of two winners and won a $50 gift certificate to their boutique!

Happy New Year!

I'm keeping my goals list short and sweet this year...

Happy 2013...may it be your best year yet!
