Easter 2013

We had a great Easter weekend!

Friday night, the Little Lady and I {with a little help from John Wayne} colored eggs.

{I had baked them the night before.  I had never used that method before, but they turned out just fine and I thought baking them was really easy.}

Saturday, we headed to the city to celebrate with John Wayne's family.

The Little Lady saw this dress months ago at Target and HAD to have it.
It worked out perfect for "Easter dress #2".

We had cute little silver shoes for this outfit, but she insisted on wearing her purple shoes.
I surprised even myself and decided not to battle her {because I knew I'd never win} and let her wear the purple shoes.
She told me that "purple shoes make me happy" and "you're the best Mom ever", so really how could I not let her wear the purple shoes.

The Little Buckaroo with "GiGi" {John Wayne's Grandma}.
I wish I would have gotten a picture of both of the kid's with her, but T was too busy running around playing with her cousins.

Having fun hunting eggs with all the cousins!

The Little Lady was VERY into it this year.
The other kids would kinda stop and check out what was inside of their eggs, not this one this year, she had one goal: get as many eggs as I can, as fast as I can.

Sunday morning, the Easter bunny made a stop at our house.

The Little Lady is never a fan of the Easter bunny -- it means she has to get up even earlier for church.  The fact that it's for candy and presents doesn't even seem to help much.

The Easter bunny brought them new swim suits, flip flops and sun hats this year.
They're pretty thrilled with the hats.
Can't you tell?!?

I always make everyone get up early enough to allow for picture time before church too.
Yeh, this makes everyone really happy.

You would think that by now I would remember to stand on the correct side of John Wayne so as to not have his hat shadowing my face in photos.
Nope.
And that disappoints me, because I love this picture.

The kiddos with Gaga and Papa.

...and Great Grandpa and Grandma Chisman.
{another photo failure -- I didn't get a pic of the kids with Great Grandpa and Grandma Hammer after church.}

The Little Lady hunting eggs...and cheating beforehand by watching her Daddy hide them.

I hope that you too had a great weekend celebrating our Risen Savior!

I always love your pictures--these were GREAT. The purple shoes story is so sweet. You're right. How could you NOT let her wear them.

Hey, I have an idea for you. When my kids were smaller we "asked" our Easter Bunny to visit our house on FRIDAY night. That way, they got to wake up as normal on Saturday and eat all the candy they wanted. It was so much easier than trying to fit it all in before church on Sunday and the added plus is that Sunday gets to keep the focus on Jesus. Anyway, you can take that or leave it but it might make a difference for your sleepyhead. :)
