Wild Horse Community Club

Today the Little Lady and I did something uniquely Wild Horse. I had the day off, so we went to the Wild Horse Community Club monthly lunch meeting with Grandma. Each month one of the members of the Club hosts lunch and everyone else brings a dish to go with it. The men of the community come and everyone gathers for a meal.

The monthly lunch meeting and other activities of the Club are held at the old schoolhouse in Wild Horse.

My Grandma Hammer is the Club President. Here she is with the Little Lady before lunch.

Each year, the ladies of the Club hand quilt a quilt and sell tickets and raffle it off at the annual Kit Carson Day event held Labor Day weekend. They also host a card party for members of the community each month. Proceeds that they earn go towards a scholarship awarded to a local High School student each May.

Rural America, love it!
